I don't believe it. I haven't been here 10 minutes and that Antivirus 2009 thing has appeared twice already? This is beyond frustrating!!!

I've been seeing people post about it all weekend, but I haven't had it pop up once. Strange. Maybe it is just American?

Antivirus 2009 came up for me too, so I looked up info on it. I found an article that said it's a counterfeit program that tries to get you to purchase it and it's very hard to uninstall once you do. That's all I know about it so I'm deleting it when it pops up!

Weirdly, it has been happening all weekend, but for the last 20 minutes or so hasn't happened.

It happened to me once a couple days ago and I immediately shut my computer down, started it back up, ran a Norton Antivirus scan and it hasn't happened again.

It didn't happen to me until today and then it happened every time I tried to come on here. Try running your own anti-virus software scan. I did and it hasn't happened since.

We did yesterday. Seems to have slowed down, but it still happens every once in a while.

I've blocked tacoda.net, am only allowing allrecipes.com cookies and changed my browser settings to not allow any third party cookies. So far, so good...

VM - How do I check for this again?

I run Firefox so yours may be slightly different. At the top of your browser window, there should be "tools" or some tab that you can click on to allow/disallow cookies from sites or block/allow sites. pro-scan-online.com is what keeps popping up in the ad here so I've blocked that & tacoda.net I've allowed allrecipes.com & disallowed third party cookies. I hope it works.

I was also getting switched to a site called viewallclicks.com (obviously spyware) so I changed my settings to block that site completely.

I see delete browsing history or turn off pop up blocker & then pop up blocker settings which doesn't show anything except at the bottom it's set at medium.

Just learning - I ran my Norton last night and it still came back now. I don't imagine running the Norton again would do any good.

I also have Norton (it has shown it is blocking whatever that thing is, so no problems with my PC), I think there is a problem from one of there rotating ads, so sometimes is pops up and other times you can post here with no problems. Continuing to rerun Norton is a waste of time, since the problem originates from this site. Haven't yet figured out which of their ads seems to be causing it, but I did send them an email.

I use McAfee and although I'm Canadian, I use the American site so that I can see the photos. No problems with the virus on my end. You guys all sound super frustrated though!

Scotdog, using IE, go to the top bar & follow & click on the path: Tools -> Internet Options -> Security -> Restricted Sites -> Site then type in the offending sites you want to block & click "Add" then "Close" & finally "Okay".

It happened to me twice yesterday. Never before that. We too got the solicitor, but also had to quarantine the spyware in our antivirus program. Good luck.
